Hammond Manufacturing
The American Hammond Company was founded in 1917. Hammond is a company specializing in the production of transformers and power supplies. Its products are widely used in the steel, energy and chemical, aviation equipment, railway and other industries. Hammond began in 1916 in a backyard workshop in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. In 1917, the original company called OS Hammond and Son was founded in Guelph. OS Hammond and Son began manufacturing tube radios, battery chargers and other related products between 1919 and 1927. In the early 1930s, Hammond became the first company in Canada to manufacture a line of two-post racks and a narrow cabinet to support the growing broadcasters and communications industry. In the 1950s and 1960s, the exploding demand for a variety of electronic products created many opportunities for new products and diversification. During these years, Hammond became a leading supplier of transformers, racks and cabinets, and enclosures for the electrical and electronics industries.
