With roots dating back to 1824 and the British shipbuilding industry, the focus of modern Laird High Performance Materials is distinctly different. Globally, "Laird PM" keeps billions of electronic devices safe from harmful heat and/or disruptive electromagnetic interference, and increases the structural integrity of those devices. Various acquisitions of former parent company Laird Ltd., and the creation of various divisions over the decades, increasingly pointed Lairds leaders to the appeal of the growing market for high-performance electronics. Trends in electronic design (more power, more heat, greater design density) bode well for Laird-engineered solutions. Since 2000, a series of acquisitions have included Emerson & Cumin, BMI, Stewart, Selmagone and several others. Each of these organizations focused on developing and commercializing products to enable and protect devices, thereby improving their performance. They subsequently joined together to form Laird Performance Materials. The global organization, Laird PM, continues to focus on developing, manufacturing, selling and supplying precision engineered materials used by manufacturers to serve their electronics markets. Laird Performance Materials customers include most of the worlds technology leaders. In 2018, Lairds properties, including Laird Performance Materials, were sold to private equity firm Advent International Inc. On July 1, 2021, DuPont, a global innovation leader, completed its acquisition of Laird Performance Materials. The other Laird entities remain portfolio companies of Advent International. Laird Performance Materials improves electronic devices by creating innovative protection solutions. The worlds leading technology brands rely on Laird for improved protection, enhanced performance and reliability, custom structural designs, and faster time to market. We solve design problems with products such as EMI shielding and EMI absorption materials, thermal interface materials, precision and structural metals, and integrated, multi-function solutions. The latter product line solves multiple design challenges simultaneously. Laird serves the automotive, aerospace and defense, medical, computing, data infrastructure, telecommunications, test and measurement, wearables, gaming, and other markets.
