MGM Transformer Company
MGM Transformer Company began as a dry-type transformer manufacturer in 1975 but quickly introduced liquid-type transformers to its product line in 1982. By 1990, MGM Transformer had grown to become the largest independent transformer manufacturer west of the Mississippi River. Entering the early 1990s, MGM Transformer operated solely from its Los Angeles, California facility, but in 1991, in an effort to expand its product portfolio, MGM Transformer opened a 1.2 million square foot facility in Tijuana, Mexico. This allowed MGM Transformer to produce low voltage transformer units in Mexico and focus its U.S. operations on the more complex medium voltage units.
