Pimoroni
Pimoroni designs, manufactures and sells products for makers, educators and creatives. Pimoroni was founded in 2012 by Jon Williamson and Paul Beech to create a treasure trove of technology for tinkerers of all stripes. The company was founded shortly after Paul won the Raspberry Pi logo design competition. Pimoroni is supported by the Raspberry Pi community and the wider maker community, and aims to make electronics more accessible and appealing to more people. The company has grown at a compound annual rate of 80%% since its founding and now employs over 30 people at its headquarters in Sheffield, northern England. This growth has been sustained by international sales through over 50 distributors worldwide. Pimoroni is the largest Adafruit distributor in the UK. When Kickstarter launched its UK site, Pimoronis Picade - a kit that converts a Raspberry Pi into a desktop arcade machine - was its first project. Whats the meaning of the companys name? Pimoroni stands for Pirate, Monkey, Robot, Ninja (Pi-Mo-Ro-Ni), and sounds like the name of some expensive Italian beer. It’s pronounced Pih-mo-row-knee. You’ll see the Pirate (and his friends) appearing throughout our brand.
