micro:bit
The micro:bit was originally created as part of the BBCs Making It Digital initiative launched in 2014. 29 expert partners came on board, each contributing resources and expertise. From the beginning of 2016, up to one million micro:bits were distributed to Year 7 pupils (or equivalent, 11-12 years old), non-formal education settings and libraries in a project led by BBC Education. The Micro:bit Educational Foundation was established in October 2016 to bring digital inspiration to students around the world.
