Merit Sensor
Sentiel Semiconductor was founded in 1991 by Fred Lampropoulos, Chairman and CEO of Merit Medical Systems. The companys first pressure sensor was qualified for production in 1993, and in 1997, the companys annual sensor sales exceeded 1 million units. In 1999, Sentiel Semiconductor vertically integrated with Merit Medical, and in 2002, Sentiel Semiconductor changed its name to Merit Sensor Systems. In 2004, construction began on a new and improved facility at the Merit Medical campus, including a Class 100 (ISO 5) cleanroom for wafer fabrication, commonly referred to in the industry as a wafer fab. Today, Merit Sensors continues to supply pressure sensors to its parent company. However, Merit Sensors serves many other customers from all over the world in a wide range of industries. With its own wafer fab and on-site calibration equipment, Merit Sensors has been able to support a wide variety of market needs.
